Summer vacation holds a special place in the heart of many families and a space for their meaningful traditions. The places we gather and spend time together grow deep with the lore and mystique of stories.

For one such family, their summer tradition takes place in the heart of the Northwoods of Wisconsin, on a picturesque, tranquil lake surrounded tall pines. When they gather, their vacation culminates in an annual sailing race, as each family member captains a small, single-crewed Sunfish sailboat for a friendly “regatta’ sailing race.

Until recently, they had never commemorated or captured this unique event. The client has a vision of creating a piece of artwork to hang on the wall above their fireplace at their family cabin to honor this tradition and reminisce about years of joyful competition and time on the water.
